Four injured in Ambulance–Tomtom collision at Teliamura

Date:

Agartala, 13th April 2026:    The town witnessed yet another horrific road accident today, allegedly caused by reckless driving. The collision occurred in the Korilong area when a passenger-carrying vegetable tomtom headed towards Teliamura market was struck head-on by an ambulance coming from Khowai. Four passengers sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Locals reported that the impact was so severe the tomtom was completely mangled. Locals rushed to the scene and quickly transported the injured to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. The victims have been identified as Sujit Debnath, Nayan Das, Paban Debnath, and Ramzan Mia.

Soon after the incident, serious allegations surfaced. The injured claimed that ambulance driver Bimal Das was intoxicated and driving at high speed, leading to the accident. The ambulance was carrying Dr. Anirban Bhowmik, who was returning from an emergency meeting in Khowai.

Reports suggest that Bimal Das has a history of misconduct, including allegations of fuel theft and drunk driving. He had previously been transferred from Teliamura hospital to North Maharani Primary Health Centre but was mysteriously reinstated in Teliamura just days ago.
