Freight train derailment disrupts Agartala-bound train services

Agartala, 1st November 2024:  Train services to Agartala have been disrupted after a freight train derailed on the Lumding-Badarpur hill branch in Maligaon, Assam. A wagon carrying food grains derailed inside Tunnel No. 2 around 4 am, according to a statement from the North East Frontier Railway.

Repairs are currently underway, with senior railway officials from the Lumding Division reaching the site. Normal traffic is expected to resume soon.

Several trains have been canceled or partially canceled, including Train No. 05627 (Guwahati-Agartala), Train No. 05697 (New Jalpaiguri – Guwahati), Train No. 15617 (Guwahati-Dulbachera), Train No. 15615 (Guwahati-Silchar), Train No. 15616 (Silchar-Guwahati), and Tripura Sundari Express (Train No. 14619).

Additionally, Train No. 12504 (Bengaluru-Agartala) Humsafar Express starting from October 29 will terminate at Guwahati and remain partially canceled between Guwahati and Agartala. Similarly, Train No. 13174 (Sealdah-Sabroom) Kanchenjunga Express starting from October 31 will be stopped at Lamding and partially canceled between Lamding and Sabrum. Tejas Rajdhani Express (Train No. 20502) starting from October 30 will terminate at Guwahati and be partially canceled between Guwahati and Agartala.

Moreover, Train No. 12508 traveling from Silchar to Thiruvananthapuram on October 31 has been rescheduled to 1:30 PM, and Train No. 07029 (Agartala-Secunderabad) has been rescheduled to 12:20 PM.
