Fuel theft attempt foiled by locals at Bishramganj; Equipment seized, vehicle confiscated

Agartala, 5th September 2025:  A suspected fuel thief was forced to abandon his vehicle and flee after being confronted by residents in Bishramganj this afternoon. The individual was allegedly attempting to siphon fuel from parked vehicles along the roadside when locals intervened, leading to a scuffle.

Upon inspection, the abandoned vehicle was found to contain equipment typically used for fuel theft. Residents promptly alerted Bishramganj police, who arrived at the scene and took custody of the vehicle. Locals claim the thief escaped on foot, leaving behind crucial evidence.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the suspect. According to residents, this is part of a growing trend of fuel thefts in the area, with perpetrators employing increasingly sophisticated methods.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, as the region faces a surge in such criminal tactics.
