Fuel theft suspect brutally beaten by truck drivers

Agartala, 4th May 2026:   A shocking incident took place in the Amtali-Khayerpur Bypass Kalitla area early this morning when a man accused of fuel theft was brutally assaulted by a group of truck drivers.

According to reports, drivers had been on alert for several days following repeated cases of fuel theft in the locality. Around 4 a.m., the accused allegedly attempted to siphon fuel from a vehicle when he was caught red-handed. The drivers tied him to a truck (registration number TR 04 1556) and beat him severely, leaving him half-conscious. In a further act of humiliation, they placed a garland of shoes around his neck.

Police rushed to the spot soon after and took the injured man into custody. The incident has sparked widespread sensation in the area, with residents expressing shock at the vigilante-style punishment. Authorities are investigating both the theft allegations and the assault.
