Agartala, 10th September 2026 : Gambling activities allegedly being carried out openly in the Motor Stand area of Agartala came under police action following complaints from local residents and traders.
According to eyewitnesses, gambling was allegedly taking place in broad daylight at a den located close to East Agartala Police Station. Acting on complaints, police reached the spot and detained three persons allegedly involved in gambling. Gambling materials were also seized, and the detainees were taken to the police station for questioning.
The incident has sparked allegations that the gambling operation had been running for a considerable period despite its proximity to the police station. Some locals have also alleged possible police involvement and regular payoffs, though these claims have not been independently established.
The local business community has demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations and urged the authorities to take action against anyone found involved.
