Agartala, 9th August 2025:   A potentially devastating fire broke out at a residence in Uttar Jogendranagar’s Nishanpara area during the worship of Goddess Bipadtarini, narrowly avoiding a major tragedy.

The blaze originated from a gas cylinder leak caused estimated damages exceeding Rs 2 lakh and triggered widespread panic in the locality.

According to homeowner Haripada Debnath, the fire erupted while the family was preparing offerings for the ritual. “We were cooking the bhog when suddenly flames burst out from the gas cylinder. Our family members screamed for help, and neighbors rushed in immediately,” Debnath recounted.

Local residents promptly alerted the fire brigade and police. Firefighters arrived on the scene and, after a prolonged effort, managed to bring the flames under control before they could spread further. Their timely intervention prevented the fire from escalating into a larger disaster.
