GBP Hospital governing body sanctions Rs 28 cr budget; 3% hike in contractual staff honorarium

Agartala, 12th May 2026: An expanded meeting of the Governing Body of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti was held today at the seminar hall of the Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti and MLA Mina Rani Sarkar. Key officials present included Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Principal Dr. Tapan Majumder, and Medical Superintendent & HoD Dr. Bidhan Goswami. Councillors and other members of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti also attended the session.

During the meeting, a comprehensive budget for the financial year 2026–27 was presented and approved unanimously, amounting to approximately Rs 28 crore. The Governing Body also decided to increase the honorarium of contractual staff working under the Rogi Kalyan Samiti by 3 percent.

The budget additionally made provisions for the procurement of various modern medical equipment and diagnostic facilities to strengthen healthcare services. It was further decided that all ongoing patient welfare schemes will continue in the upcoming financial year without interruption.

The Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital confirmed the details of the meeting and the decisions taken.
