Man Found Dead at His Residence in Simna; Family Suspects Murder

Agartala, 12th May 2026:  A 26-year-old man, identified as Tapan Debbarma, was discovered dead at his home in the Jumia locality of Ramshankar ADC Village under Simna constituency. His family has alleged that he was killed.

As per the family’s statement, Tapan was allegedly assaulted late last night near the Ramshankar ADC Village office area. They claim that a local resident, Pranab Debbarma, along with his associates, brutally attacked him and left him injured at the spot before leaving.

The family further alleged that the accused group later informed them to take him home. He was brought back around 10 PM in a severely injured condition. After returning home, he reportedly went to sleep. However, the next morning at around 9 AM, the family found him dead.

Following the incident, the family also claimed that Pranab Debbarma issued threats, warning them not to speak about the matter to anyone.

Police from Sidhai and Sundar Tilla outpost, along with Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashish Dasgupta and a forensic team, arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

A relative of the deceased alleged that Tapan was beaten to death, citing visible injuries on his face, forehead, chest, and other parts of his body. The family has announced their intention to file a murder case. No arrests have been made yet. The body has been sent to the morgue of Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.
