Agartala, 21st April 2024: In a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a young woman was rescued after being allegedly abducted and drugged by miscreants promising marriage.
The daring rescue took place in Narsinghgarh after the victim was reportedly lured from Belonia over a five-day period under false pretenses.
The accused individuals, identified as Saurabh Chakraborty and Pooja Das, allegedly orchestrated the scheme, preying on the victim’s trust through social media. Saurabh Chakraborty, hailing from Ahariya of Agartala, purportedly initiated contact with the victim before enlisting the help of Pooja Das to carry out the abduction.
According to details emerging from the investigation, the victim was transported to Agartala and subsequently to a puja house in Narsinghgarh, where she was restrained and deprived of sustenance. Shockingly, reports suggest that the victim was subjected to the administration of drugs against her will.
The timely intervention of local youths on Saturday night thwarted the perpetrators’ plans, rescuing the victim and ensuring her prompt medical attention. Speaking from her hospital bed, the victim disclosed that the accused’s residence was located near Kalibari in Narsinghgarh.
In response to the alarming incident, Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, visited the victim at GB Hospital, expressing her concern and vowing to pursue justice. Debbarma condemned the heinous act and assured that stringent measures would be taken against the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, authorities at the airport police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter, seeking to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. While the community remains on edge, speculations abound regarding the motives behind the abduction and the extent of criminal activities in the region.
