Gold chain snatched in city’s heart, panic grips traders

Agartala, 22nd February 2026:   A daring snatching incident in broad daylight has caused widespread alarm in the Ramnagar area. Disguised as a customer, miscreants entered a shop and fled after snatching a gold chain from the owner’s neck. The incident took place at the No. 2 crossing on Ramnagar 6th Road.

Local sources informed that two young men arrived on a motorbike. While one waited outside, the other entered the shop pretending to browse items. Engaging the shopkeeper in conversation, he suddenly pulled the gold chain from the owner’s neck and rushed out. His accomplice was waiting with the bike, and together they sped away within seconds.

The entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV camera. Footage reveals the crime was executed in a planned manner. Police have already collected the video and begun efforts to identify the culprits.

The brazen act in a busy marketplace has triggered fear among traders and residents alike. Concerns are mounting over the city’s security arrangements. Locals have demanded immediate arrest of the accused, strict punishment, and increased police patrolling in the area to prevent further incidents.
