Agartala: November 18. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha today said that the state government is working with an aim to fulfil the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to empower women and achieve economic self-reliance.
“Making women self-reliant is one of the goals of the state government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to empower women and achieve economic self-reliance and the current state government is working towards this goal”, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the 17th Regional Saras Mela at International Fair Grounds today.
The Chief Minister said that the present central and state governments have given importance to women’s self-empowerment.
“About 75 percent of India’s people live in rural areas. Economic development of the country and state will accelerate if rural women become financially self-reliant. The present state government has made serious efforts for the development of rural women which could not be noticed before”, he said.
During the event MLA Mimi Majumder, Mayor Dipak Majumder and other officials were present.
