GPAT to hold sit-in-demonstration with ten demands on December 10

Agartala, December 06, 2022: The General Secretary of the Government Pensioners Association of Tripura (GPAT) Narayan Chandra Banik on Tuesday said that the association will hold a one-hour long sit-in-demonstration on 10-point charter of demands at Orient Chowmuhani premises here on December 10 next.

Speaking to media persons here, Banik said that several letters to the government seeking deputation in last few years, but did not receive any reply till date. In August last, association submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary, but till now, there is no reply.

“Hence, we have decided that the members of the Association will hold a sit-in-demonstration for an hour on 10 demands at Orient Chowmuhani frim 12 noon on 10-point charter of demands followed by discussion”, he added.

GPAT general secretary said that the demands are- all pensioners of state government shall be paid pension with arrears at the same revised rate as central government, a minimum pension of Rs 9 thousand per month should be paid as per central government, the outstanding 30 percent dearness relief should be granted immediately, the new pension law should be repealed and the defined benefit pension scheme should be introduced as before, those who retired between 2006 and 2008 after twenty-five years of service will have to pay full pension as per the court ruling.
