Agartala, December 06, 2022: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized input distribution (Potato tubers) programme under ICAR-IARI-NEH component at Bishramganj, Charilam RD Block in collaboration with Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi on Tuesday under the technical guidance of Dr Dilip Kumar Kushwaha, Scientist; Dr Pramod Kumar Sahoo, Principal Scientist; and Dr P K Sharma, Head of the Division of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR, New Delhi.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal and Dr A K Singha, Director, ICAR-ATARI, ZONE VII, Umiam. The objective of the programme was to increase area under scientific potato cultivation and to improve productivity as well as profitability of potato growers of Sepahijala district through quality potato tuber.
Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Sepahijala discussed about the profitable potato cultivation in Sepahijala conditions and given road map for the future prospective of potato cultivation in the district. Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection); Dr Joy Kumar Dey, SMS (Agronomy) and Maisnam Luwangleima, SMS (Agril Engineering) narrated on the importance of quality seed and acknowledged ICAR-IARI, New Delhi for supporting the farmers of sepahijala for improving their potato cultivation.
Dr Dilip Kumar Kushwaha, Scientist, Division of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi shared his experience on potato cultivation and highlighted income generation source through potato cultivation.
Dr. Pramod Kumar Sahoo, Principal Scientist, Division of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi and Dr. P. K. Sharma, Head, Division of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi (virtual mode) pronounced about the importance of quality potato tuber for farmers’ income enhancement and different cultivation practices.
Kabiray Debbarma, Deputy Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Sepahijala, Govt of Tripura encouraged the farmers for promoting scientific potato cultivation. Biswajit Saha, President, Agri Standing Committee, Sepahijala gave an insight into the importance of quality potato tuber for higher yield.
Pradip Baran Roy, President, All Tripura Farmers Clubs highlighted various path breaking ways for doubling of farmers’ income through scientific potato cultivation.Birendra Kishore Debbarma, MLA, Golaghati accentuated on the importance of quality potato tuber for enhancing productivity and profitability of farmers.
The programme was also attended by Dr Joy Kumar Dey, SMS (Agronomy); Maisnam Luwangleima, SMS (Agril Engineering); Dr Kha Lovingson (Farm Manager); Sanjoy Debnath (Stenographer), KVK Sepahijala and others.The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra and supervision of Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head of this KVK. A total of 216 farmers, farm women, rural youth from Sepahijala district were actively participated in the programme and interacted with specialist.
