“Gram Diwas” celebration begins first at Charilam; Deputy CM attends event

Agartala, December 06, 2022: Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Tuesday inaugurated the “Gram Diwas” and “Prati Ghore Sushasan” programmes at the Chechrimai Gram Panchayat under Charilam RD Block in presence of GP Pradhan Pradip Debnath, Charilam RD Block Additional BDO Amitabh Bhattacharya were also present. Cultural programs were performed by local artists.

The Deputy Chief Minister gave the award to 70 citizens of Checharimai Gram Panchayat area. The women of this village panchayat perform awareness plays. Five pregnant women of Checharimai Gram Panchayat area are given nutritious food. Besides, bicycles were handed over to the hands of 10 girls in Checherimai High School by the Deputy Chief Minister. Dev Varma arranged lunch for about 700 residents in celebration of “Gram Diwas” in Checharimai Gram Panchayat.

Addressing the gathering, Dev Varma said “This village tradition of honouring women, honouring the elderly persons, sitting and eating together with everyone for one day in a year should continue. Everyone should remember this day. For the first time, ‘Gram Diwas’ started with Charilam in Tripura, Checharimai Gram Panchayat held first ‘Gram Diwas’ today, to take blessings from guardians for doing good work. The meaning of ‘Gram Diwas’ is that our loyalty to the village is an illusion of the soil of the village. No matter how great a doctor engineer he is, he will have a different status towards the village, then he will be considered a human being. A developed village means a developed India.”

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma visited the “Gram Diwas” celebrations of Chechurimai Gram Panchayat where everyone gathered together for lunch.
