Agartala, 15th May 2025: Holy Cross School, Agartala, conducted a child protection and safety awareness program for its Class ‘D’ employees, focusing on safeguarding children and understanding the provisions of the POCSO Act 2012.
The event was led by Fr. K.J. Abraham, Chairman of Holy Cross Foundation, an expert in child psychology with a diploma in child protection from Rome, Italy. Madam Supriya Chakraborty, PRO of Holy Cross School and a trained child mental health professional (NIMHANS & CISCE), assisted him and provided translation support to ensure all staff could grasp the concepts in their native language.
Fr. Abraham stressed the importance of treating all children with respect, care, and moral guidance regardless of their background. He urged staff to manage students with kindness, offering support even in moments of distress or misbehavior. He emphasized that concerns regarding a child’s well-being should be promptly reported to parents through the receptionist, nurse, or teachers.
Additionally, Fr. Abraham reminded staff of the significance of maintaining appropriate dress and body language while interacting with students. His message centered on the responsibility of educators and caregivers in shaping young minds into future citizens who uphold the values necessary for a strong and ethical society.
During the session, Fr. Abraham explained the POCSO Act, its applications, and the importance of adhering to child protection laws. He urged all attendees to prioritize the well-being of children beyond religious or social differences, ensuring they grow with happiness, security, and moral strength to become responsible citizens of the country.
