Agartala, 3rd April 2026: Tension has gripped the Sakram area following allegations of an attempted rape on a housewife. The accused has been identified as Shantimohan Tripura.
According to the complaint, the incident took place yesterday afternoon when the woman, feeling unwell, was resting alone in her room. Taking advantage of the absence of other family members, Shantimohan allegedly entered the house and tried to assault her. The victim’s cries for help forced the accused to flee the scene.
Initially, the woman refrained from disclosing the matter due to social stigma. However, today she lodged a written complaint at Sakram police station with the support of her family. Police have launched an investigation, though the accused remains absconding.
The incident, which took place in broad daylight inside the victim’s home, has sparked outrage among local residents. The victim’s family, along with community members, have demanded the immediate arrest of Shantimohan Tripura and exemplary punishment to deter such crimes.
