ICFAI celebrated World Intellectual Property Day

Agartala, 29th April 2025:  The ICFAI University Tripura in collaboration with the Institute of Engineers, Tripura State Centre organized One Day Seminar on “IP and Music: Feel the beat of IP” as a part of celebration of World Intellectual Property Day yesterday.

This year, the title focused on “IP and Music: Feel the beat of IP” which is a unique lens through to understand how intellectual property shapes not only industries but music, lyrics,cultures, economics and its futures. Music is the universal language of humanity which crosses borders, bridges cultures, and touches hearts. Intellectual property rights have become the backbone of the music industries in today’s digital era and it is very much significant to protect the copyright, performers’ right, and licensing right of the musicians, composers, lyricists, and producers to safeguard their creativity, earn livelihoods, and continue to inspire generations.

Er. Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, the Chairman, Institute of Engineers, Tripura State graced the seminar as Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr.) Priyanath Das, the Honorary Secretary of Institute of Engineers, Tripura State Centre and Er. Harjeet Nath, Assistant Professor of Chemical and Polymer Engineering Department of Tripura University also graced the program as Special Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Prof. (Dr.) BiplabHalder, Vice Chancellor of the ICFAI University Tripura also presided over the inaugural session and delivered the welcome address. The Chief Guest emphasized on the vital role Intellectual Property Right in protecting creativity Culture and innovation.

Dr.Divya Prakash Pathak, Assistant Professor of the ICFAI University Tripura explained about the significance of the title of the seminar. The guest speakers explained about various ways of protecting copyright, performers’ right, and licensing right of the musicians, composers, lyricists, and producers to safeguard their creativity, earn livelihoods, and continue to inspire generations.

The inauguration ceremony of the seminar come to an end by the vote of thanks addressed by Dr. Priyangshu Rana Borthakur, Dean, Faculty of Science & Technology of the University. 

On the other hand, the department of Physical Education of the University also organized a 2-day self-defense workshop on same day and Dr.Mihir Shil, Assistant Director of the department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura was attended the workshop as Resource Person.
