Agartala, 13th September 2026 : Opposition Leader Jitendra Chaudhury has warned that if the state government fails to clear the legitimate dues of government employees, including pending Dearness Allowance (DA), the democratic route to changing the government will remain open.
Chaudhury was speaking as the chief speaker at a voluntary blood donation camp organised at the central office of the Tripura Government Employees Association (TGEA) on Sunday ahead of its central conference.
He said the TGEA has a responsibility towards society, the people and the overall development of Tripura, and has been working to strengthen humanitarian values within the organisation.
However, he alleged that government employees in the state are suffering under the “triple-engine government”, claiming that employees are not receiving DA regularly and that promotions are also being delayed.
He further alleged that employees who raise their voices against corruption, theft and other alleged irregularities are facing pressure, and claimed that women employees are also among those affected.
On the issue of DA, Chaudhury said the government maintains that there is no shortage of funds and frequently speaks about self-reliance. However, he alleged that numerous posts remain vacant across government departments, adversely affecting the delivery of public services.
“Government employees’ legitimate dues are not a favour from the government,” he said, adding that the CPI(M), as the principal opposition party, has been raising the issue to the extent possible and had also raised it during the last Assembly session.
“If government employees do not receive their legitimate dues, the democratic path remains open and efforts will be made to bring about a change in government in the coming days,” Chaudhury said.
Later, the Opposition Leader visited the blood donation camp along with leaders of the employees’ organisation and interacted with participants.
