Illegal forest woods seized with TSR’s support at Mohanpur

Agartala, September 14, 2022: The 2nd battalion of TSR on the late evening of Tuesday last intercepted two Mahindra Bolero Pick-up vehicles loaded with illegal forest woods near Abhicharan market in Pahari area under 2-Mohanpur assembly constituency.

It is reported that the Ranger of the Forest department Priyalal Sen from Battala in the capital city had specific information that the stolen forest wood in two vehicles bearing registration numbers TR01AK1545 and TR01AK1625 were heading towards Ranirbazar through Mohanpur route.

Accordingly, the Forest ranger along with TSR personnel of 2nd Battalion set a trap at 8 PM on Tuesday last and intercepted two Bolero vehicles loaded with illegal forest woods. The estimated market value of the seized woods would be around Rs 5 lakh. However, the driver and owner managed to flee from the spot.

It is worthy to mention here that the seized forest woods belongs to the Forest department of Mohanpur sub-division. There is an office of Sub-Divisional Forest department in Kamalghat area of Mohanpur sub-division. In this office, there are rangers and officials of the forest department. Also there are many beat officers of forest department in Mohanpur area.

Many lorries’ loaded with forest woods are transporting through this route, but why the local beat officers and sub-divisional officers of the Forest department are reluctant to take action. Is theire any mystery behind it! Due to which, high officials of Forest department had to come from Agartala.
