Agartala, 13th June 2024: The road from Nakul Choumuhani to Khamarpara in the Kanchanmala area has fallen into severe disrepair, rendering it nearly impassable due to years of neglect. Local residents, frustrated by the lack of action from the authorities, have warned that they will resort to protests if the road is not repaired soon.
At least 25 to 30 families reside along this deteriorating stretch of road, which has become riddled with potholes and waterlogged sections, making it difficult for even pedestrians to pass, let alone vehicles. Despite repeated complaints to the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Rural Development Department, no measures have been taken to address the issue.
“The entire road from Nakul Choumuhani to Khamarpara has turned into a ditch. Water is stagnant, and it’s impossible for vehicles or even people to use the road safely,” said a frustrated resident.
This is not an isolated issue, as several roads in the Kanchanmala area have similarly fallen into bad condition, reflecting a broader problem of infrastructure neglect in the region. The residents have expressed their desperation and anger over the inaction, stressing the urgent need for renovation.
The local community’s patience is wearing thin, and they have declared their intention to start an agitation if their plight continues to be ignored. The deteriorating roads pose not only an inconvenience but also a significant hazard, particularly during the monsoon season.
“We have informed the concerned departments several times, but there has been no response. If the road is not repaired soon, we will be forced to protest,” warned another resident.
