Ratan chairs state-level review meeting on Agricultural developments*

Agartala, 12th June 2024:  A significant state-wise review meeting was convened at the S.A.R.S. complex in A.D. Nagar, Agartala, under the leadership of Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath. The meeting, aimed at assessing and strategizing the agricultural developments in the state, was presided over by Minister Ratan Lal Nath himself.

Key officials in attendance included Agriculture Department Director Sharadindu Das and Horticulture Department Director PB Jamatia, among others. The gathering focused on the upcoming initiatives and ongoing progress in the agricultural sector.

During the discussions, Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced that the government would commence the process of purchasing paddy from farmers starting June 15. To date, the state has acquired 1.92 lakh metric tons of paddy, incurring an expenditure of ₹371.79 crore from the state treasury.

In an effort to enhance soil health management, soil health cards have been distributed to 1,76,519 farmers, with plans to issue these cards to an additional 40,000 farmers. These measures are part of the state’s ongoing commitment to improving agricultural practices and farmer welfare.

Highlighting the state’s agricultural achievements, Minister Ratan Lal Nath proudly stated that Tripura ranks fifth in the country for paddy production, a testament to the hard work of the state’s farmers and the effectiveness of governmental support.
