BJP’s post-election violence signals insecurity, weakness: Manik

By TC News Desk

Agartala, 12th June 2024:  Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesday said that the way BJP has launched attacks on opposition party workers is a sign of weakness and losing ground, which was proved in the recently concluded election.

Sarkar said this after visiting the Udichi Club area, where some BJP-backed miscreants reportedly attacked the residence of CPIM worker Manish Ghosh.

“This attack is a sign of BJP’s weakness. This does not indicate their power. They are in fear and tense as they are losing support, and for that, they are launching attacks on people to create a fear psychosis. The condition of the entire country is not good. Somehow they survived their government. They said that they would cross 400, but what happened? Even with the NDA, they failed to cross 300. People are now raising questions about this government’s stability. However, we are not raising these same questions; instead, we are saying to intensify the protest,” he said.

Sarkar said that people will not accept the attacks, violence, and unrest.

“In Tripura, BJP is celebrating victory by looting the vote, turning the election into a farce. In this Lok Sabha election, in the last 25 years, I don’t think any party has received such votes. This is not a sign of power but a sign of weakness,” he said.

Pabitra Kar, who was also there, said that yesterday late at night, the house of Manish Ghosh came under attack. When Manish and his son went onto the terrace and identified two people, they asked them why they had launched this attack.

“Some people left while some were there and pelted stones and bottles. He then informed the police officials, and TSR also rushed to the spot. Police have asked to file a written complaint with the names,” he said.

He said it has been a long time, even after the CM’s appeal, such incidents are taking place, and if such incidents are occurring, this is indicating their weakness.
