Agartala, 5th January 2024: The Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), an initiative spearheaded by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the US State Department has formally launched on Friday at the Agartala Press Club. A significant step towards empowering women entrepreneurs in the region, the program aims to enhance their business acumen and foster growth.
Established on a global scale in 2019, AWE is now entering its fourth phase (AWE 4) in India, focusing on collaborating with women entrepreneurs in Tripura and Mizoram over the next year. The program will be executed by Contact Base, a non-governmental organization based in Kolkata.
Speaking to media persons here, one of the Directors of Contact Base, Suman Mukhopadhyay said “Participating women entrepreneurs will gain access to an array of opportunities, including networking with international mentors, engaging with incubators and successful entrepreneurs, taking part in buyer-seller meets, receiving on-demand online training on various business aspects such as documentation, and preparing for business pitching. Furthermore, participants will have the chance to become part of a global network of women entrepreneurs.”
The eligibility criteria for enrollment are women entrepreneurs above the age of 18 who are residents of Tripura. The enrollment window for this transformative program is open until January 31, 2024.
