Jharna Debbarma assumes post as Seventh Chairperson of Women’s Commission in state*

Agartala, 27th September 2023:  Jharna Debbarma officially assumed the chair of the seventh Chairperson of the Tripura commission for Women, succeeding Barnali Goswami. The ceremonial handover took place on Wednesday, amid warm welcomes from the dedicated staff of the commission.

Established in 1994, the Women’s Commission has been at the forefront of addressing the burgeoning issues faced by women, striving tirelessly for their empowerment and well-being.

Expressing gratitude towards Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha and the State Government, Chairperson Debbarma pledged to wholeheartedly commit herself to the pivotal responsibility now entrusted to her. She affirmed her dedication to upholding the Commission’s mission of safeguarding and advocating for the rights and welfare of women.

This appointment marks a significant milestone in the ongoing pursuit of gender equality and justice, as Jharna Debbarma takes the helm, poised to lead the Commission to new heights.
