Agartala, 18th January 2025: Four organizations under the banner of ‘Joint Development Forum’ stages protest on Saturday outside the Abhoynagar branch of Tripura Gramin Bank in Agartala city demanding urgent action on a 10-point charter for infrastructure development, including improvements to the bank’s facilities. The protesters have warned of an indefinite strike starting in March if their demands are not addressed promptly.
“We submitted our 10-point demands to the bank’s management on December 17, but no action has been taken so far,” said an organization worker at the protest. “Infrastructure development is just as critical as expanding the number of branches of Tripura Gramin Bank. Our demands also include simplified loan disbursement for customers, revisions to the employee transfer policy, and fair salary increases for DRW workers.”
The 10-point demands highlight issues such as enhancing customer services, upgrading the bank’s physical infrastructure, and addressing employee grievances. The protesters emphasized that the bank’s failure to act on these issues undermines its operational efficiency and employee morale.
“If the management continues to ignore our concerns, we will have no choice but to escalate the matter. An indefinite strike in March will be our last resort to make our voices heard,” warned another protester.
