Agartala, 31st August 2024: The swearing-in ceremony of the Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti took place on Saturday at 11 AM in Kadamtala Chandrakala Town Hall. This event marked a significant step in the formation of the three-tier panchayat system following the recent panchayat elections in the state.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including the Minister of Social Welfare, Social Education, and Department of Youth and Sports Affairs, Tinku Roy. Other notable attendees included Kajal Das, Joyjit Sharma, Jahar Chakraborty, Kadamtala BDO Animesh Debbarma, and North Tripura District Panchayat Officer Amartya Barman.
Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the ceremony, welcoming all members and guests with bouquets of flowers. He emphasized the importance of the Gram Panchayat government, stating, “The Gram Panchayat government is the people’s government, benefiting all sections of society. Chiefs work on behalf of the people’s representatives to address problems and implement government projects.”
The Kadamtala block area comprises 19 Gram Panchayats, which collectively form 15 Panchayat Samiti seats. In the recent elections, the BJP secured 13 of these seats, while the CPIM won two. Mihir Ranjan Nath was sworn in as Chairman, and Vidyabhushan Das as Vice Chairman among the 13 BJP Panchayat Samiti members.
Despite the absence of the two CPIM members, the ceremony proceeded with the oath-taking of the 13 BJP members, administered by District Panchayat Officer Amartya Barman. The event saw the participation of hundreds of BJP functionaries, alongside the winning candidates.
Minister Tinku Roy also addressed the recent flood situation in his speech, highlighting the severe impact and estimated losses of around Rs 15,000 crore. He reiterated the commitment of the Panchayat Samiti members to work diligently for the welfare of the people, as they have been elected by the people’s votes.
