Agartala, 19th August 2024:   The residents of Kailashahar have voiced their dissatisfaction with the private power company, Sai Computer Limited, and are calling for the return of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL). The Kailashahar Citizens’ Forum has threatened an indefinite strike if the quality of electricity service does not improve immediately.

On Monday afternoon, a delegation from the Kailashahar Citizens’ Forum presented a memorandum to Biswajit Bose, the Managing Director of TSECL at the Electricity Department office in Kailashahar. The memorandum detailed numerous complaints against Sai Computer Limited, the private entity currently responsible for electricity services in the region.

“The quality of electricity service provided by Sai Computer Limited has hit rock bottom,” said Prantosh Roy, a prominent member of the Citizens’ Forum. “We demand the immediate intervention of TSECL to resolve these issues and ensure a reliable power supply.”

The forum has also called for regular meetings with Sai Computer Limited to discuss and improve service quality. “If the private company fails to enhance their service standards promptly, we will be forced to call a one-day symbolic strike,” warned Devesh Sinha, another forum member. “Should the situation remain unchanged, we will escalate to an indefinite strike.”

The delegation included notable members such as Asim Pal, Partha Debnath, Sudeep Nath, Ratnapradeep Chakraborty, Madhav Pal, and Bhaskar Ghosh Adhikari. They expressed their frustration over the prolonged inadequate services provided by Sai Computer Limited since the state government outsourced electricity services to the company.

“People have protested in various ways, from blocking roads to surrounding electricity offices,” said Madhav Pal. “Despite these efforts, the company has shown little improvement. The government is aware of the issue, but the negligence of Sai Computer Limited continues.”

Abhijit Bose assured the delegation of swift action to address their grievances. “We understand the people’s frustration and are committed to resolving these issues promptly,” he said.

The citizens of Kailashahar are adamant that the return of TSECL is the only solution to their ongoing power woes. “The suffering of the people will only increase if Sai Computer Limited continues to provide electricity services,” said Bhaskar Ghosh Adhikari. “We need TSECL back to ensure a stable and reliable power supply.”

The Kailashahar Citizens’ Forum remains resolute in their demand for better electricity services and is prepared to take further action if necessary.
