Agartala, 26th March 2024 :  Tomorrow, the streets of Agartala will witness a significant political event as former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union president and Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar joins the nomination filing rally of Congress candidate Ashish Kumar Saha in Tripura. This announcement was made by former Minister and MLA Sudip Roy Barman during a press conference held this afternoon.

Roy Barman outlined the schedule, stating that Ashish Kumar Saha, representing both Congress and the INDIA bloc, will formally file his nomination papers for the West Parliamentary seat. The day’s events will commence with a gathering in front of Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, followed by a procession through the city streets before Saha submits his nomination. Roy Barman extended an invitation to all, urging students, youths, and mothers to bless their candidate during this momentous occasion. The gathering is set for 10 AM, where Kanhaiya Kumar, a prominent Congress leader and youth figure, will address the attendees. Additionally, a significant number of CPI (M) supporters and leaders are expected to participate in the Congress procession preceding the nomination submission.

Responding to inquiries regarding the BJP candidate Biplab Deb’s nomination filing rally, Roy Barman referred to a prior communication submitted to the Returning Officer of the West Parliamentary seat by the BJP. This communication purportedly indicated an understanding that no other party gatherings would occur concurrently. Roy Barman expressed confidence in the presence of their listed star campaigners, reassuring reporters of their anticipated participation.

The political landscape in Tripura is poised for heightened activity as these nomination rallies signal the beginning of a fiercely contested electoral campaign.
