Khowai Power department faces public outrage over prolonged electricity outages

Date:

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 31st May 2025:  The Khowai Power department has come under intense scrutiny as prolonged power outages continue to plague residents of Khowai sub-division. Frustrated customers from various localities gathered at the department office today only to find it completely deserted, with senior officials nowhere in sight.

Residents reported that some areas including Kathaltali Srinagar Para have been without electricity for three days. “The power supply is highly unstable—it comes and goes frequently, and at times, we are left without electricity for hours,” said a local resident who had come to the office to lodge a complaint.

Despite the growing discontent, Senior Manager Dibakar Nath was reportedly unavailable. Attempts to reach him over the phone proved futile, with reports indicating that he routinely leaves for Agartala by 4 p.m., leaving customers in Khowai sub-division to fend for themselves.

“When we come to the office, there is no one to address our complaints. The management seems indifferent to our struggles,” said another resident. The absence of officials and the erratic power supply have fueled fears that the electricity infrastructure in the region is deteriorating.

Residents are now demanding urgent intervention, warning that if the situation persists, the electricity department’s credibility and service quality will continue to decline. The issue calls for immediate attention from authorities to prevent further disruption to daily life in Khowai sub-division.
