Agartala, 8th August 2026 : Maloy Deb, popularly known as Mantu Deb, a young businessman from Ashrampalli in Kumarghat, has been missing for the past eight days after leaving home to meet a friend.
Mantu, the only son of Makhan Deb—a retired Public Works Department employee—is a well-known figure in the locality. Last Friday, after closing his shop, he set out for Dharmanagar on a scooter with a friend, carrying cash and shop keys. Since then, he has not returned home.
His father, Makhan Deb, has lodged a missing person report at Kumarghat Police Station. The family, consisting of his parents, wife, son, and daughter, is deeply distressed. They have appealed to the public through the media for any information that could help trace him.
Respected in the community and free from internal disputes, the Deb family’s plight has sparked widespread concern among residents. Local people have expressed solidarity with the family, urging authorities to intensify efforts to locate Mantu.
