Agartala, 8th August 2026 : Farmers across Tripura are enduring dire conditions, unable to secure fair wages for their crops or access proper agricultural equipment. This unprecedented crisis, according to the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), has left cultivators deprived of their rightful dues under the current government.
Speaking during a membership drive at Debipur Panchayat in Kamalasagar constituency on Saturday afternoon, AIKS State Committee Secretary Pabitra Kar alleged that farmers have lost the courage to continue cultivation as they are not receiving adequate returns for their produce. He said, “Since this government came to power, farmers are struggling to survive. While interacting with villagers during the campaign, I heard countless grievances. No one is doing well under this regime.”
Kar further highlighted that farmers in Kenania are unable to grow paddy due to increasing monkey menace in the fields. He also criticized the local MLA, claiming that despite repeated visits, no steps have been taken to repair the dilapidated roads in the area.
The AIKS leader stressed the need for a larger movement to press for farmers’ demands in the coming days. Alongside Kar, state committee member Pranab Debroy, divisional secretary Dipak Pal, president Swatendra Deb, area secretary, and youth leader Hirannmoy Narayan Debnath were present at the campaign. The leaders noted that the membership drive received strong response from farmers, with visits to individual households yielding positive feedback.
