Land dispute settled after three-year legal battle in North Tripura district

Date:

Agartala, 2nd July 2026:   After a prolonged three-year legal battle, Manik Debnath, a resident of Gobindpur in North Tripura, has finally regained possession of his disputed land following a court verdict in his favor.

On Thursday, in the presence of police officials from Churaibari Police Station and local villagers as witnesses, the land was formally handed back to Debnath. The court’s directive was executed with due legal procedure, ensuring transparency and compliance.

The dispute dates back to 2023, when Debnath filed a case in the North Tripura District and Sessions Court over ownership and possession of approximately 0.34 satak of land. After years of hearings, the court ruled in his favor earlier this year.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Debnath expressed gratitude to the judiciary, administration, and all present, stating that his faith in justice has been further strengthened. Local residents echoed his sentiment, noting that the verdict would reinforce public confidence in the rule of law and fair justice.

Court officials, including bailiffs Amit Santal and Sujit Das, were present during the handover process.
