Agartala, 2nd July 2026: The Tripura Sports Journalists Club (TSJC) observed World Sports Journalists Day on Thursday by organizing a football kit distribution programme in support of grassroots sports development.
As part of the observance, a TSJC delegation visited Jampuijala, about 32 kilometres from Agartala, and distributed football jerseys to promising young female footballers. The initiative was aimed at encouraging greater participation of girls in football and promoting the growth of women’s sports at the grassroots level.
The young footballers welcomed the gesture with great enthusiasm, expressing their appreciation for the encouragement and support extended by the club.
The programme was attended by Jampuijala Play Centre President Sachin Kalai and Coach Subodh Debbarma.
The Tripura Sports Journalists Club delegation was led by President Saraju Chakraborty and included Vice-President Suprabhat Debnath, Secretary Anirban Deb, and Treasurer Utpal Bhattacharjee
Through this initiative, the Tripura Sports Journalists Club reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sports beyond reporting by supporting and encouraging emerging talent at the grassroots level.
