Agartala, 19th June 2024:   Torrential rains have led to a devastating landslide in the Tarakpur gram panchayat area resulting in the collapse of four houses. The incident took place at Ward No. 4 of Tarakpur gram panchayat and has significantly affected the residents of the region.

The houses of Bankim Ghosh, Karthik Telenga, Narayan Ghosh and Deep Kanu were severely damaged by the landslide. Specifically, the Thakur house belonging to Bankim Ghosh, Narayan Ghosh’s toilet, and Deep Kanu’s kitchen were all heavily impacted. Meanwhile, in Ward No. 5 of Ranibari Gram Panchayat, a mountain collapse at Karthik Telenga’s residence caused substantial destruction, with Karthik Telenga facing the worst of the damages.

Bankim Ghosh, one of the affected residents, described the dire situation faced by his family. “We are two poor brothers, and our family already lives in hardship. The collapse of our house’s wall has added to our struggles. We urgently need help,” Ghosh appealed to the administration, drawing the attention of Kadamtala Block Chairman Subrata Dev and other officials.

With more rain forecasted, there is a concern that the extent of the damage could increase, exacerbating the plight of the affected families. In response to the incident, Block Chairman Subrata Deb promptly visited the damaged homes to assess the situation and offer support to the victims.

Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely as they prepare for potential further damage, emphasizing the need for immediate relief and assistance for the affected families.
