Agartala, 2nd July 2024: The Legal Aid Society, National Law University Tripura conducted its first, “Legal Awareness Program” on cyber frauds relating to finance and banking issues, in the Narsingarh Gram Panchayat with active participation and help of the panchayat members on June 30.
The event started with an introductory remark by the Registrar NLU Tripura Prof. (Dr.) Nachiketa Mittal on the objectives and future scope of the NLU Tripura Legal Aid Society i.e., followed by the deliberations of Dr. Ripon Bhattacharjee, and Susmita Das, both Assistant Professor of Law, NLU Tripura, and the Senior Manager, Tripura Gramin Bank, Narsingarh Branch, Nilanjan Sengupta, followed by the Concluding Remarks of the Faculty Coordinator of Legal Aid Society, Dr. Jayanta Dhar, Assistant Professor of Law, NLU Tripura.
The event catered adequate participation of Peoples of the village as well as members of the Gram Panchayat and their active exchange of thoughts and problems with the NLU Tripura Students and Teachers.
Topics discussed in the legal awareness program included matter like different types of cyber-fraud activities conducted in the financial and banking sectors, discussion on dos and don’ts while using online banking and financial transactions, available procedures to fight back such online banking fraud, role of accountholder and bank etc.
During the program, the Registrar, NLU Tripura, mentioned that the village people in need of legal aid are welcome to the Legal Aid cell of NLU Tripura. The university has plans to adopt some villages, and it has many bigger plans to ensure that the access to free legal aid is well ensured under the aegis of NLU Tripura.
