Locals book suspect accused of theft at North Narayanpur, bag full of cash seized

Agartala, 28th November 2025:  Locals booked a man accused of theft and handed him over to police along with a bag filled with cash recovered from his residence at North Narayanpur under Airport Police Station today.

Police sources informed that the accused identified as Sentu Das allegedly broke into the home of Babul Nag, a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and stole valuables by breaking open a Godrej locker. The stolen items reportedly included Rs 2.4 lakh in cash, a gold chain weighing approximately 2 ‘Bhoris’ and a gold bangle weighing 1.5 ‘Bhoris’.

Family members of Babul Nag lodged a complaint with the police after discovering the theft. They alleged that Sentu Das has long been involved in criminal activities, including multiple thefts in the locality, and accused him of disturbing social peace and misleading local youths.

Outraged by repeated incidents, residents stormed Sentu’s house, vandalized property, and later handed him over to police. During the raid, locals recovered a bag full of cash, which they also surrendered to authorities.

Local members further claimed that Sentu’s family is complicit in his unlawful activities, accusing them of filing false cases against others and disregarding police authority. The incident has sparked widespread anger, with locals demanding that Sentu be permanently evicted from the area to restore peace.Police have taken custody of the accused and are investigating the matter.
