Agartala, 30th March 2024:  In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a training camp was convened for micro observers tasked with election duties in two constituencies of the state. The initiative, organized by the Returning Officer, aimed to equip these observers with the necessary skills and knowledge for their crucial role in ensuring fair and peaceful elections.

The training camp took place at the Agartala Town Hall, with the presence of distinguished officials including General Observer Vivek L Vimansar. Addressing the gathering, General Observer Vivek L Vimansar emphasized the significance of the National Election Commission’s efforts to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

“The National Election Commission strives to facilitate free and peaceful elections, but this task cannot be achieved single-handedly,” stated General Observer Vivek L Vimansar. “Hence, the appointment of General Observers for each Lok Sabha constituency serves as the Commission’s representative. However, due to logistical constraints, it’s impractical for General Observers to oversee every polling station individually. Thus, the deployment of micro observers becomes imperative.”

Highlighting the pivotal role of micro observers, Vimansar emphasized, “The demand for re-polling at any polling station hinges upon the meticulous reports submitted by micro observers. Therefore, their role in the electoral process cannot be understated.”

As the training concluded, the micro observers departed equipped with the necessary knowledge and guidance to fulfill their responsibilities effectively, contributing to the smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state.
