Agartala, 21st June 2026: A shocking incident of vandalism has created tension in the Panisagar police station area, where unidentified miscreants allegedly uprooted around 10,000 rubber saplings from a plantation during the night. The incident has triggered anger and concern among local residents and plantation owners.
It is reported that the damaged rubber plantation is jointly owned by Nasir Uddin (48), a resident of Ward No. 6 of Roa Gram Panchayat and former BJP Deputy Chief (Upa-Pradhan) of the area, and Pranoy Chandra Nath (52), a resident of Ward No. 3 of East Roa Gram Panchayat under Panisagar police station.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when local residents passing through the area noticed that a large number of rubber saplings spread across the plantation had been uprooted. They immediately informed the owners, following which Nasir Uddin and Pranoy Chandra Nath reached the spot and assessed the damage.
Later, the matter was reported to the Panisagar police. A police team visited the plantation, conducted an inspection, and started a preliminary investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made so far, but police sources stated that efforts are underway to identify those involved in the act.
The plantation owners alleged that the destruction was carried out intentionally with the aim of causing financial loss and damaging their agricultural project. They demanded a thorough investigation and strict punishment for those responsible.
Meanwhile, local residents have expressed concern over the incident and urged the authorities to take immediate steps to prevent such acts of vandalism in the future. The large-scale destruction of rubber saplings has created fear and anxiety among plantation owners in the area.
