Agartala, 3rd August 2025:   Tripura Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury today launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led state government, alleging a complete collapse of law and order over the past seven years.

Speaking to reporters, Chaudhury said, “There is no law and order in Tripura. The situation has deteriorated drastically under the current regime.” He also criticized the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Biswabandhu Sen, for allegedly entering a police station by violating established protocols.

He urged Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, to take urgent steps to restore normalcy and public trust in the administration.

Highlighting a recent incident, Chaudhury said that workers of BJP ally Tipra Motha Party had attacked people during a ‘Mann Ki Baat’ event. “These programs are mandatory for MGNREGA workers, many of whom have benefitted from government schemes. Yet, such acts of violence show the extent of lawlessness in the state,” he said.

He further alleged that an atmosphere of autocracy prevails across Tripura and that both BJP and its allies are misleading and luring the youth with false promises during elections. “Now, out of frustration, the same youth are launching attacks,” he claimed, citing another such incident in Khowai.

Chaudhury also raised concerns over rising crimes against women, murders, and rampant corruption. “It has become mandatory to pay commissions to ruling party leaders to get development work done. Some of these leaders are now buying flats in Gurgaon, building hotels, and frequently traveling to places like Dubai, Bangkok, and Australia with unidentified individuals,” he alleged.

Accusing the BJP of ignoring grassroots workers, Chaudhury said, “The state leaders are no longer accountable to their local workers. Their only goal is to please the central leadership in Delhi to secure high positions.”

He also slammed the poor condition of roads and the national highway, calling it a testament to the government’s negligence.
