Madhyamik pass rate at 84.18%, Higher Secondary at 79.83%: TBSE results out

Date:

Agartala, 8th May 2026:   The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Friday announced the results of the 2026 Madhyamik (Secondary) and Higher Secondary examinations. According to the Board, 27,094 candidates appeared for the Madhyamik exam, with an overall pass percentage of 84.18%. In the Higher Secondary exam, 26,502 students sat for the test, achieving a pass rate of 79.83%.

Board President Dr. Dhananjay Gan Choudhury stated at a press conference that these figures are expected to rise further after the completion of the “Bachhar Bachao Abhiyan” (Year-Saving Programme), which allows students to improve their results.

Dr. Gan Choudhury also announced that TBSE will not publish a “Top Ten Merit List” this year. He explained that students who initially secure positions in the merit list sometimes lose their place after re-evaluation or self-assessment, creating complications for the Board. “To avoid such issues, we have decided not to release the merit list this year. From next year, however, the list will be published only after the entire examination process is complete and certificates are issued,” he said.

Traditionally, students who feature in the top ten merit list of any board gain direct admission to medical or engineering colleges without appearing for entrance exams.

Highlighting school-level performance, Dr. Gan Choudhury revealed that 271 schools recorded 100% success in the Madhyamik exam, while five schools registered zero pass rates. In the Higher Secondary exam, 60 schools achieved full success, whereas one school reported no successful candidates.

TBSE Secretary Jaydeep Bhattacharya noted that despite the ongoing Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTADC) elections, the Board managed to publish the results within just 38 days. He added that the “Bachhar Bachao Abhiyan” will be conducted within the next two months to finalize the process.
