Agartala, 1st March 2025: Five individuals were arrested late last night in connection with an economic scandal at the Sepahijala District Superintendent of Police’s office. The arrests were made by the Bishramganj Police Station and include three ministerial staff members, a Tripura Police constable and an outsider.
The accused have been identified as John Debbarma, Suchitra Sinha, Khokan Dey, Constable Harinath Debbarma and Khonilal Debbarma. Investigations have revealed their involvement in the embezzlement of lakhs of rupees.
The police authorities have charged the accused with the misappropriation of funds amounting to 15 lakhs. They are scheduled to be presented in court today.
The incident has exposed yet another instance of internal corruption within the police administration, casting a shadow over the department’s integrity.
