Malay Pit honored with ‘World Book of Records’ for health awareness contribution

Date:

Agartala, May 03: Achieving 70 points, Malay Pitt of Birbhum district, West Bengal, has been awarded the prestigious World Book of Records title for his exceptional contributions to health awareness, medical education, and social service. His inspiring journey has now earned global recognition at the World Book of Records Award Ceremony 2025, held on May 2 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

“Choto Choto Paye Cholte Cholte Tikh Pouche Jabo” (Walking with small steps, I will reach the destination) – the meaningful line from the film Hire Manik – reflects the spirit of Malay Pitt, who believes in steady progress toward a healthy nation. As President of Bolpur Santiniketan College and Hospital and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, Pit has long emphasized strengthening the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.

“We are proud to invite Malay Pit to this world stage, where he has become a source of inspiration through his leadership in medical education,” said Santosh Shukla, President of the World Book of Records, London in an official letter dated April 15, 2025 (Letter No. 98/2025). The award ceremony was graced by dignitaries from more than 25 countries and hosted at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Almaty.

Malay Pit’s leadership has led to remarkable developments. In 2024, Santiniketan Medical College was established at Rani Khamar near Agartala, Tripura under the Swadhin Trust and approved by the National Medical Commission. Within months, the college launched an MBBS program with 150 seats, attracting students from 21 Indian states—a rare milestone for a new institution. The college has already earned places in the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records.

“With President Malay Pitt’s visionary guidance, we’ve redefined the academic and service standards. His commitment to students and society is unparalleled,” said Dr. Sanjay Nath, Principal of the college.

Malay Pit remarked, “This award is a special source of inspiration for the people of West Bengal and Tripura, as we walk toward the twin goals of medical advancement and social service.” Plans are underway to build a 650-bed hospital within a year and a 1,100-bed super-specialty facility within two years—marking a new chapter in regional healthcare.
