Man attempts suicide by jumping in front of train in Belonia; undergoing treatment at GB Hospital

Agartala, 10th March 2026:  Tension spread in the Bahadurpara (Monurmukh) area under Belonia police station on Tuesday morning after a youth allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of a moving train.

According to sources, the incident occurred at around 9:10 a.m. The injured youth has been identified as Sadhan Dhar (33), a resident of North Sonaichhari area.

Reports said that a DEMU train traveling from Belonia to Agartala via Shantirbazar was passing through the Bahadurpara (Monurmukh) area when Sadhan Dhar suddenly jumped in front of it. The impact of the train severed his left wrist. However, he miraculously survived the accident.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued him. He was first taken to Belonia Sub-Divisional Hospital for initial treatment. Considering the seriousness of his injuries, doctors later referred him to Govind Ballabh Pant (GB) Hospital in Agartala for advanced medical care.

The exact reason behind the suicide attempt is still unknown. The incident has sparked various speculations in the area, while family members remain shocked and deeply concerned about the situation.Police are looking into the matter.
