Man Dies After Alleged Beating on Suspicion of Cattle Theft in Tripura

Agartala, 2nd September 2026 :  Tension has gripped the Bagber area under Kalyanpur police station following the death of a man who was allegedly beaten severely on suspicion of cattle theft.

The deceased has been identified as Jalil Rahman (45), a resident of the Ghilatali Bazar area.According to police sources, Rahman was allegedly detained by local residents late on Tuesday night on suspicion of being involved in cattle theft. He was reportedly subjected to severe physical assault during the incident.

After receiving information, police reached the spot and rescued Rahman in a critically injured condition. He was rushed to Kalyanpur Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family.

Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are working to establish the circumstances that led to Rahman’s death.Meanwhile, the deceased’s family is reportedly preparing to lodge a complaint at Kalyanpur police station, demanding strict action against those responsible for the alleged assault.
