Agartala, 30th August 2025:  Former Tripura Chief Minister and ex-Politburo member Manik Sarkar on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of weaponizing electoral strategy to consolidate power. His remarks came during a blood donation camp organized by the DYFI Jogendranagar Local Committee, commemorating the 25th death anniversary of CPI(M) leader Dr. Ajit Ray Choudhury.

The event, held at the Vidyasagar Party Office in Jogendranagar, paid tribute to Dr. Ray Choudhury, a prominent figure in the region’s Left movement. Alongside the blood donation drive, the gathering drew participation from several political leaders, including MLA Ramu Das and other CPI(M) members.

Addressing attendees, Sarkar alleged that the BJP, under the influence of the RSS, has been pursuing anti-people policies for over a decade. “Tripura is engulfed in chaos. No previous government has inflicted such inhumane pressure on workers, minorities, farmers, Dalits, tribals, Hindus, and Muslims alike,” he said. He claimed that the BJP’s increasing authoritarianism stems from its fear of electoral defeat.

Sarkar further criticized the BJP’s performance in the last Lok Sabha elections, noting that despite its slogan to win over 400 seats, the party secured only 240. “They couldn’t form the government alone and are now surviving by leaning on allies,” he remarked.

The former Chief Minister also raised alarm over recent developments in Bihar, where 6.5 million names—predominantly from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Muslims, and other minority communities—were reportedly excluded from the draft voter list during the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Sarkar alleged that the BJP is attempting to reshape voter demographics to its advantage, suppressing opposition voices even within Parliament.

“In essence, the BJP is advancing by turning electoral strategy into a weapon,” he concluded, calling for public vigilance and resistance against what he described as systemic disenfranchisement.

The blood donation camp held in memory of Dr. Ajit Ray Choudhury’s legacy served not only as a humanitarian initiative but also as a platform for political discourse and mobilization.
