Agartala, 8th February 2024:   Former Tripura chief minister and CPIM politburo member Manik Sarkar launched a scathing attack on the BJP-IPFT coalition government lat a public rally today. He accused the central government of conspiring economically to oust the Left Front government from Tripura in 2018 by withholding payments to NREGA workers for six months before the polls. He claimed that the Left Front government had ensured that the people of the state did not starve to death despite the financial crisis.

Sarkar also warned the people of Tripura that voting for the BJP government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections would not solve their economic problems. He urged them to join the fight to defeat the BJP and its allies, who he said were constantly attacking the Constitution and the democratic rights of the common people. He cited the example of 16 black laws that were passed in the Parliament session by expelling 146 MPs, which he said would undermine the independence of the judiciary and the electoral system.

Sarkar also took a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who he called position greedy and opportunistic. He said that Nitish Kumar had switched parties several times to remain in power and had become the chief minister of Bihar for the ninth time. He said that such leaders had no principles or ideology and were only interested in serving their own interests.
