Agartala, 24th April 2025:  Allegations of manipulation and false accusations have surfaced in the Nalchar assembly constituency, where the ruling class is accused of attempting to seize control of Durlav Narayan Ration Shop No. 2. The shop is currently managed by Humayun Kabir, son of the ailing dealer Dudu Mia has become the center of a contentious battle.

According to reports, Humayun Kabir has faced repeated harassment and obstruction from ruling forces while managing the ration shop. “They tried everything to shut us down. But we stood firm, approached the law and resumed operations despite the challenges,” Kabir told reporters.

The latest controversy erupted when local ruling leaders filed a written complaint with the Sonamura Food department accusing Kabir of misconduct and intoxicated handling of rations. The complaint is signed by several party leaders and workers prompted department officials to investigate the shop today.

During the investigation, CPI(M) Nalchar local secretary and youth leader Mohammad Selim stood in solidarity with Kabir and the local residents. “We demand transparency and justice. False allegations cannot be used as a tool to oppress hardworking individuals,” Selim stated.

Officials conducted a thorough examination, reviewing the shop’s registrar and interviewing residents. Their findings contradicted the complaint, with no irregularities observed during the investigation. “We are here based on the written complaint. However, most of the complainants appear to be from other ration shop areas,” an official clarified.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who view the complaint as a deliberate attempt to undermine Kabir’s efforts. “This is harassment, plain and simple. I am considering legal action for defamation,” Kabir asserted.
