Agartala, 25th April 2025:  A massive fire broke out in the heart of Gokulpur Bazar, Udaipur last night completely gutting four shops and causing extensive financial loss. The incident has left traders in shock with the estimated damage reaching around Rs 5 lakh.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started around 9 PM in a homeopathy chamber, before rapidly engulfing adjacent shops, including a decorator electrical appliance store, a vegetable vendor, and a book library. “We suddenly saw smoke coming out of the homeopathy shop, and within moments, flames spread in all directions,” said one witness.

Firefighters responded swiftly to the emergency, deploying two fire engines to the site. Local residents also stepped in to assist in controlling the blaze. Authorities believe the fire was caused by a short circuit inside the homeopathy chamber. “Our initial assessment suggests an electrical short circuit as the source of the fire. The flames spread quickly due to the nature of the materials inside the shops,” said a fire department official.

Despite efforts to contain the flames, the four shops suffered total damage. Many of the affected shop owners had invested their savings into their businesses and are now struggling to cope with the loss. “Everything is gone. I don’t know how to start again,” said one distraught trader.

While the fire brigade managed to prevent the fire from spreading further, the incident has left a lasting impact on the marketplace. Authorities are urging shop owners to implement better fire safety measures to prevent such disasters in the future.
