Agartala, 6th December 2024: The importance of science fairs in encouraging scientific thinking among students was highlighted on Friday as Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar inaugurated the two-day West District-level Children’s Science Exhibition at Umakanta Academy Higher Secondary School. The event also featured a seminar on science, emphasizing the role of education in technological development.
In his inaugural address, Mayor Dipak Majumdar praised the advancements in the education infrastructure across the country. “The education system in our state has significantly improved. Students no longer need to go outside for higher education. This science exhibition will play a crucial role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of creating a developed India,” he said.
Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Balai Goswami emphasized the potential of science to shape the future generation. “This event will showcase how science can be used to develop the future generation. The various models created by the students can contribute to the technological development of our country,” Goswami stated.
Ward 34 Corporator Janhvi Das Chowdhury and District Project Coordinator Rupam Roy also addressed the gathering. Roy delivered the welcome speech, while Umakanta Academy Principal Rajesh Debbarma presided over the event.
The theme of this year’s district-level children’s science exhibition is ‘Science and Technology for Sustainable Future.’ A total of 38 models from different schools in the district were displayed, showcasing the creativity and scientific acumen of the students. The fair will conclude tomorrow, providing a platform for young minds to explore and present their innovative ideas.
The event highlighted the responsibility of teachers in enriching the scientific thinking of students and highlighted the immense potential of student-created models in contributing to the nation’s technological advancement.
