State observes 69th death anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar with dignity

Agartala, 6th December 2024:   The 69th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution was observed with due dignity today at the premises of Ujjayanta Palace also known as Tripura State Museum. The event was organized by the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department.

SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Balai Goswami, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Agartala Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, SC Welfare Department Secretary Deepa D. Nair and department’s Director Tapan Kumar Das.

The officials and attendees paid tribute to Dr. Ambedkar by offering wreaths at his marble statue. The function also saw the presence of students, teachers, and artists from various schools and hostels, who honored the memory of Dr. Ambedkar.

Addressing the gathering, minister Das highlighted the multifaceted contributions of Dr. Ambedkar. “Dr. Ambedkar was a philosopher, economist, politician, social reformer, and the chief architect of the Constitution. He envisioned a new India free of caste discrimination, where justice and equality prevail. His life is a blessing to us all,” he said.

Minister Das emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s dedication to the upliftment of not just the untouchables and backward communities but to the development of everyone in the country. “He worked tirelessly for the betterment of all sections of society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also moving forward by following the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar,” he added.

The event was presided over by Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Balai Goswami, while Deepa D. Nair, Secretary of the SC Welfare department delivered the welcome speech. The ceremony included performances of bhajans by artists from Sachin Debbarman Memorial Government Music College, paying a melodious tribute to the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar.

The observance of Dr. Ambedkar’s death anniversary served as a reminder of his enduring legacy and the principles of justice, equality, and social reform that continue to inspire generations.
